How To Manage Stress Naturally in 5 Easy Steps

We all live in a very stressful world, but there are easy ways to manage stress naturally.  I have experienced a fair share of stress and know first hand its deadly effects.  Stress is the silent killer that brings on diseases, weight gain, it’s aging and dehydrating, breaks down relationships and much more.

I have gone through a bad marriage breakup, a heavy depression, severe adrenal fatigue, crippling Rheumatoid Arthritis, I have had a house fire where I lost everything, lost jobs, was homeless and lived in cheap motel, had clothes taken from me… All of that within last 5 years and it was very stressful. But I decided that my circumstances will NOT control how I feel.  I realized I had the power to control how I react to stress.  Lack of money and depression will have no control over my life. I decided I will manage stress rather than give into it!

And so can you, with these 5 easy steps:

 

Manage Stress Naturally in 5 Easy Steps

 

1. Embrace the Sunrise

-Drink a quart of lemon water upon waking up.  It will have a cleansing effect on your body, will help your liver to detoxify after night’s work and will start up and soothe your digestion.  Help your tummy do its job better with lemon water.
Do not turn your TV on, especially the News.  There is rarely anything good on the News.  Start your day with positive thoughts.
Your social media feed and the opinions and rants of other people can wait.  Write in your gratitude journal instead.
Have a quiet morning time.  Pray, meditate, write in a journal, read the Bible or something inspired and motivational. Embrace the morning peace, drink it up, own it, feel it, make it a part of you.  Allow the peace to enter your heart and think only positive thoughts.

2. Be the Hero, Not the Victim

Having the attitude of gratitude will change your outlook on life and will help you manage your stress.  Make an effort to see the good in the bad.  There will always be someone in worse situation.  The trial will not last forever, it will pass.  Look at challenges as character building.  When you get past it, you will be stronger than before.  You will have learned valuable coping skills.  See the benefits.  Be the hero, not the victim.

3. Become a Minimalist

Less is more.  Less stuff, less clothes, less clutter.  Therefore, less stress.  Decide wether you need it or want it. You’ll be surprised at how much stuff we can do without.  People with less are happier.  People with less worry more, are more grateful, and embrace relationships more than possessions.  They are the true winners.

4. Walk Your Way Out

Get in a habit of regular outdoor exercise.  It will make all the difference in the world.  Outdoor exercise brings the stress level down, helps you forget about your troubles, produces positive thought patterns, promotes clarity of the brain necessary for problem solving, and promotes the feeling of happiness and content.  The oxygen boosts your brain activity, fresh air beats depression and exercise produces the feel-good hormone serotonin.  So get walking, jogging, biking.  You can beat that stress: get your butt moving and walk it out.

 

5. Believe and Don’t Give Up

Believe in The Higher Power.  Take the load off your shoulders, you don’t have to carry it all yourself.  Pray and believe.  Meditate.  Believe  you’re not alone, believe that God can help.  Just ask.  It grows patience, it grows faith, it peaces you out.  I believe in God and He promised to take care of me and help me out in hard times.  He does just that.  Believe and don’t give up.

    I used to watch the news every single morning, and last summer I stopped. Now I subscribe to the newspaper online and I read that when I’m open and ready to consume what’s going on in the world. It’s made a huge difference. I used to be a total news junkie, but I’ve seen the difference it’s made to follow my quiet time up with music rather than the news!
